Beckett’s Officially Closes In Berkeley

Grub Street first caught wind of Beckett’s changing hands back in August, and then came the follow-up that it would become BEC Bistro — we suppose in an effort to keep the name kinda the same? In any event, the Scoop now has word that the place is officially closed, and it took this long because ABC took this long to transfer the liquor license.

As noted earlier, the new owner is Jean-Yves Duperret, who previously owned La Nouvelle Patisserie on Union Street in S.F. BEC Bistro will featuring some mix of menu items ranging from French to Italian to the standard Cal-Med. No word on the opening date, but one would guess after such a protracted wait that it will be soon.
