Coney Island Loses Another Grub Spot

Coney Island is losing yet another feeding post. Though Classic Heros isn’t quite an institution, the “greatness” of its homemade brisket and gravy sandwich, the Sea Gate Special, was celebrated in our now pitifully out-of-date Eat Cheap at Coney Island roundup. According to a Craigslist ad, the store “has been closed since January 1st as one of the partners had a personal emergency and the other partner has a full time job and cannot be there.” Paging Zamperla: The $1,800-per-month lease can be yours for $29,500. The sandwich shop was opened by Matt Bruno (who got his start at shuttered Sheepshead Bay institution Lundy’s) and his brother Sean.
