What to Drink (and Eat) at the Liberty Wine Bar, Opening Next Week Behind the Liberty Café

Cozy up, Bernal wine-os: On February 1, the Liberty Café (401 Cortland) is re-launching its wine bar in the carriage house out back, called the Liberty Wine Bar, serving snacks, charcuterie, and small plates as well as a selection of fine wines from around the world. Also, as a generous introduction to their wine list, they’re hosting two free wine tasting events on Thursdays in February. See the full menu and the event details below.

“The Wines of Piedmont” - Thursday, February 3rd

6:00 pm to 8:00 pm - Certified Sommelier Justinian Brock introduces us to small, family-owned producers in Piedmont who make world-class wines. Taste andlearn about Arneis, Dolcetto, Barbera, and Nebbiolo in a relaxed, social setting. Live music and complimentary hors d’oeuvres. Admission is free.

“The Tempranillos of Alejandro Fernandez” - Thursday, February 10th

6:00 pm to 8:00 pm - San Francisco wine professional Roberta LaFrance explores the delicious, yet different styles of Tempranillos from famed Spanish producer Alejandro Fernandez. Taste and mingle in a relaxed, social setting. Live music and complimentary hors d’oeuvres. Admission is free.

Cooking Class & Wine Pairing Dinner - “Fresh & Simple Italian” - Thursday, February 24th
6:00 pm to 9:00 pm - Liberty Café’s Chef Matt Marcus teaches us how to make the perfect Italian dinner at home. Learn how to make classic vinaigrette, perfect pizza dough, fresh pasta, and classic Italian dessert while tasting and learning how to pair classic Italian wines with Jeffrey Sloan AWS. Space is limited, so please RSVP to (415) 695-8777. Cost is $50 per person and includes dinner and wine pairings.
