The Bristol Wins Big at 2010 Jean Banchet Awards

It was a great night for The Bristol at the 2010 Jean Banchet Awards, which were held over the weekend. The Bucktown restaurant won two categories, nabbing an award for Rising Chef (Chris Pandel) and for Rising Pastry Chef (Amanda Rockman). While hardly scientific, the awards were picked by participating and nominated chefs, and the money raised by attendees all went to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Who else won?

Curtis Duffy, the executive chef at Avenues, won Celebrity Chef of the Year, beating out such formidable foes as Graham Elliot, Stepanie Izard, and Tony Mantuano. Koren Grieveson of Avec also continued her award winning streak by picking up the Best Chef de Cuisine. In slightly less surprising news, Alinea picked up yet another trophy for Best Fine Dining.

About the only even remotely controversial point was when Kith & Kin won Best Neighborhood Restaurant, even though it lost its founding chef David Carrier back in September. Of course, as we found out last week, Andrew Brochu has already put his stamp on the food, and the restaurant has continued to thrive. Even that pick seemed right.
