Opa, the modern Greek restaurant and bar that the brother and sister team of George Tsiouris and Vasiliki Tsiouris are preparing to open next month along Midtown Village’s main drag of 13th Street, are getting a hand in the design department from Jun Aizaki, the man responsible for the look and feel of Jose Garces’ restaurants. Aizaki’s firm Crème has created the interiors for all of Garces’ restaurants form Amada to JG Domestic. He’s also a partner in Guapos Tacos, the Iron Chef’s seldom-seen taco truck. For Opa, Aizaki is focusing on using primarily natural materials. While the majority of the design details remain under wraps, Opa’s bar will sit under a large wooden canopy, constructed entirely with birch branches.

The 70-seat restaurant will feature a menu of mezedes, cheese, zimi and souvlakia, as well as whole fish and lamb dishes as shared entrees. Former White Dog Café chef Andrew Brown will head up Opa’s kitchen.
