Not only is Georges Perrier keeping his Walnut Street flagship Le Bec-Fin open, despite claims throughout much of last year that he was pulling the plug on it, he’s also two months away from debuting Heart of Bread by Georges Perrier, a new bakery in Narberth, according to the Daily News’ Dan Gross. Perrier told Gross that diners in Philadelphia needed something sexy, and that he’s the one who can give it to them, which conjures up a rather unappetizing mental image, as an explanation of what’s to happen to his Le Bar Lyonnais in Le Bec’s basement when the restaurant goes temporarily dark later this year. The bakery is expected to open this spring, and may or may not be one of the nebulous projects Perrier was reportedly going to pursue following Le Bec’s closing. [Dan Gross]
