Truckin'

Introducing Germany’s Famous Bratwurst, Now Rolling in L.A.

The recent craze for German sausages is being further fulfilled by a food truck. Germany’s Famous Bratwurst hit the scene two weeks ago today and piles on the links, with menu variations including the traditional (Bavarian meatballs, currywurst, weisswurst), unique (turkey wurst, chile cheese wurst), and even vegetarian (the tofu brat). In addition, GFB offers beef schaschlik, sides like potato salad and fries, and a milk rice dessert with cherries, plus flavored iced tea. What else?

All but the schaschlik is priced under five dollars and an online schedule shows the truck covering a wide swath of the city. Unfortunately, striking a blow to the concept of German punctuality, the truck is already veering off this route for an appearance today on Century Blvd., so you can keep better track on its Twitter and Facebook (update: Or maybe not as it wasn’t there when we looked). With Steingarten a few weeks away and a Westside Wurstkuche still in development, it could be your most accessible taste of Germany for a little while longer.
