Google to Groupon: Fine, We’ll Just Start Our Own Coupon Site


The geeks over at Mashable have it on good authority that Google, even in the midst of its CEO shuffle, is about to launch their own Groupon killer called Google Offers. This news, of course, arrives just two months after Groupon turned down a $6 billion purchase offer from Google, instead raising $950 million in funding of their own in preparation for a reported $15 billion initial public offering. So now that Google is entering the very-saturated coupon-site fray — let’s not forget about Blackboard Eats and Village Vines — we’ve got to ask: Which discount site will bite the dust first?
