Friedman’s Lunch Rolls Out Gluten-Free Frozen Dumplings

Xi’an Famous Foods isn’t the only local restaurant looking to conquer grocery-store shelves. We just learned that Friedman’s Lunch in the Chelsea Market will begin offering gluten-free frozen dumplings at area Whole Foods and Fairway markets, plus some other local retailers, at the end of this month. Dumplings are currently available at the restaurant ($7.49 for a box of eight) in pork, chicken, shrimp, and vegetable flavors. And on the topic of restaurant-brand foods, Tabla closed for good on December 30, as scheduled, but its legacy lives on in the form of those FreshDirect 4-Minute Meals; a rep for Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group informs us they will be available “indefinitely.”
