Chicago’s food truck entrepreneurs might not have the freedom to actually cook on their trucks, but they are nothing if not creative. So while we don’t have a Korean taco truck rolling around town, the latest trucks have picked dishes that travel well and don’t require any last minute additions to make them delicious. Think about the tamalis from Tamalli Space Charros and the mac and cheese from the upcoming The Southern Mac. Now it looks like we’ll be getting our very first English pasty truck. It’s called Bridgeport Pasty, and it’s almost ready to hit the street. So, what is a pasty?

According to the official definition on the company’s website, the pasty is a “hand-held savory pie with origins in the mining communities of SW England, specifically Cornwall.” Think of these as a more portable English pie. Basically that means that these treats were essentially created to be sent out with the workers in the morning, so we figure that they’ll do well for an hour on a truck.

On the other hand, we’re not sure why Bridgeport is becoming the center of this new savory pie craze, but we are definitely okay with it. To see when they finally hit the street, follow them on Twitter, friend them on Facebook, or just simply visit their website.
