Today Zagat brings word of the naked-lady-wallpapered secret room that was just unveiled at Bell Book & Candle. The chandelier-hung nook is accessed through a wall panel you push on until it swings open, and it has a cutout window that looks directly onto the bar, the better to request those buckets of Champagne. This reminded us of the hidden back room we stumbled onto a while ago at Lower East Side wine bar Ten Bells. While looking for the restroom in the back of the space, we pulled open a door that led not to the WC (though it was identical to the restroom door) but to a long, dim back room with a large table in it. A call to the boîte reveals that the space seats 24 and is available at no charge for private parties. We’re already a bit meh on “secretrestaurants, but secret rooms seems like a trend that might have, er, legs.
