W Hotel Downtown Lets You Skate With the Stars (Like, the Actual Stars in the Sky)

Roller-skating at Studio B is long gone (the building was just sold), but now you can … ice-skate at the downtown W? Yup, the hotel has installed this rink on its fifth-floor terrace, right outside of its Living Room Bar. Sure, at 12-by-40, or about 400-square-feet, it only fits about fifteen people and isn’t nearly as spacious as the Rockefeller Center rink (not to mention, it’s made from polymer “hybrid-ice synthetic rink panels,” whatever those are), but in an attempt to one-up the Rink Bar, house mixologist Charlotte Voissey has come up with warm drinks like a vodka-tequila Hot Chocolate Martini, and a hot toddy incorporating rye, vanilla sugar, and nutmeg-infused rum. The rink is open from December 18 through February 15, Monday through Sunday from 2 till 10 p.m.; skate rental is $12 or you can bring your own and skate for free. If your little cousins are visiting the big city, this might just be the place to plop them while you tie one on.
