Temporary Closings

Sushi Uo Closes to Relaunch As Private Event Space

Last night we were alarmed to read on the blogosphere that Sushi Uo seemed to be closed. So this morning we rang up Uo’s owner, Frannie Marchese, who told us that yes, Uo as we knew it is done, but she plans to relaunch soon as a private venue that will offer “scheduled nights with a particular sushi chef.” Marchese reports she has several parties booked for later this month, so we wish Uo the best. When it does relaunch — should you get your hands on a dinner invite — expect a different look, with a dark-red ceiling and, in place of those naked-ladies-with-fish artworks, decoration courtesy of a kind of Japanese wood-block print called shungu.
