Planned LAPD Headquarters Restaurant Faces Eviction

After years of planning and nearly a million spent, a “friendship-themed” restaurant planned for LAPD’s new Downtown headquarters could be squashed. City Attorney Carmen Trutanich filed a lawsuit in September to evict Sam Vagarshakian and Michael Simon, proprietors of Reflections, where a menu was to be based on the cuisine of L.A.’s sister cities. Awww. Among the many complicated leasing issues, officials also argue that the pair were serving alcohol during an Art Walk function without a permit, while both owners contend they’ve done nothing wrong and point to “an abuse of political power.” Vagarshakian also claims his lawyer was told a restaurant is no longer wanted on the property, with no word yet on whether a donut shop was in heavier demand.
