Have you heard? Chocolate made from cocoa that’s been certified as “ecofriendly or socially conscious” by groups like Fair Trade USA and Rainforest Alliance is all the rage! Even François Payard uses it — 20 percent of the chocolate he imports is certified. And now Mars, Inc. — makers of M&M;’s, Mars bars, Snickers, etc. — says it will certify its entire cocoa supply within the next ten years. No word on what Hershey’s plans are, but all of their cocoa comes from Pennsylvania anyway, right? [WSJ]
