Fatty’s Closing in Eagle Rock; San Gabriel Valley Debuts

Photo: Fatty’s & Co.

Eagle Rock: Colorado Boulevard’s vegetarian staple, Fatty’s & Co., will close after service tonight. Owners Kim Dingle and Aude Charles plan an open-ended “creative hiatus,” but say they will reopen with a new concept. [Patch]
Pasadena: A new strip-mall find, House of Basturma, specializes in dry-cured Armenian-style beef, maquiniq (veal sausages), and other Middle Eastern fare. [Feast]
Marina del Rey: Chicken-fried watermelon is just one of the snacks you’ll find at Vu at the Jamaica Bay Inn. And they’re actually good. [EstarLA]
Santa Monica: Sweet Lady Jane’s new Westside location is looking mighty good, and locals, of course, love it. [Mondette]

Beverlywood: Fairfax’s longstanding Eliat Bakery opened a new location at Pico and Doheny. Just like the original, all cakes, bread and pastries are kosher, made with Cholov Israel dairy and Yachan Flour. [Feast]
San Gabriel Valley: If you thought the L.A. dining scene as a whole was in constant flux, just look at the comings and goings in the SGV alone. [Squid Ink]

AND WITH THAT, thanks for joining me here this week, Grub Streeters. Your regularly scheduled guide, Hadley Tomicki, will be back on Monday. Have a save and happy New Year!
