Cops Arrest Paty’s Taco Truck Operator, Drive Him Out of UES

Paty’s, the Upper East Side taco truck that weighed so heavily on the heart and soul of Councilwoman Jessica Lappin, has been pushed out of the neighborhood. DNA Info reports that after a month-long ticketing spree, an NYPD officer arrested the son of the owner, Alberto Loera, for disorderly conduct, obstructing government administration, and resisting arrest; Loera says it was all because he couldn’t move the vehicle without a driver’s license and his mom doesn’t know English.

After the truck was impounded and stripped of equipment including a $2,300 generator, he says he took out a $5,000 loan and is now parking it outside of Barnard (and presumably still moonlighting in Union Square). The owner of the Eddie’s Pizza Truck says enforcement is particularly rigorous on the Upper East Side.
