Voltage coffee shop opens their doors in Kendall Square tomorrow. Owner Lucy Valena is amped about the full latte menu featuring flavor infusions from house-made syrups and citrus zests. Beans for both espresso and drip-coffee are sourced locally from Barrington Coffee Roasting Company of Massachusetts. Edible accompaniments include tea sandwiches, breads, and pastries. The 295 Third St space is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and also serves an art gallery featuring young up-and-coming artists.
Valena started Voltage as a mobile espresso catering business. (Hm, sounds like a familiar tact.) Voltage, the catering incarnation, was made possible by the Sam Adams “Brewing the American Dream” program we mentioned, proving that beer barons can help dreams come true. The portable espresso bar has recently been out of commission, but the twenty-five-year-old entrepreneur told us that she anticipates re-booting the mobile side of the business come January.
