Please be advised that SPQR is doing a special dinner tomorrow night, November 3, celebrating the wines of one of owner Shelley Lindgren’s favorite wineries, Venica & Venica in the Collio district of Friuli, Italy. Winemaker Giampaolo Venica will be on hand pouring their famed Friulano as well as a number of others. Chef Accarrino will be making food that’s sure to pair well. Reservations at 415.771.7779.

Also this week, every night through Sunday, Grand Café is doing the first of a series of regional French menus, this one a tribute to Bordeaux. Executive chef Sophiane Benaouda will be preparing a special selection of dishes from the region, like its signature terrines and patés, with Bordeaux wine pairings, all for $62. The next regional dinner, in January, will focus on Burgundy. Reserve at 415.292.0101.

And finally, tomorrow night (November 3) Fifth Floor is offering an opportunity to sample food from new executive chef David Bazirgan, along with a “bottle battle” of wine pairings from Napa and Sonoma. As Tablehopper reports, “Master Sommelier Emily Wines will join Fifth Floor sommelier Amy Goldberger for this three-course dinner (with a sweet ending). Wines will select Napa Valley wines to showcase, and Goldberger will select the best of Sonoma Valley.” Guests will then vote on which valley wins. $78 includes wine pairings. Reserve at 415.348.1555. [Tablehopper]
