Things Are Not So Jolly at Jolly’s Dueling Piano Bar

Like relationships, when business partnerships sour, there’s great potential for volatile behavior and tremendous drama. And drama with a capital D is brewing at Jolly’s Dueling Piano Bar at 20th and Chestnut streets. Owner Jolly Weldon was arraigned Friday on a host of charges, including making terroristic threats, stalking, harassment and reckless endangerment, stemming from conflicts with his former business partners in Jolly’s, Dan Gross reports. Back in September, Weldon reportedly threatened Timothy Smith, the owner of the building where Jolly’s resides, and was said to have been physically held back by two men from attacking Smith outside of the piano bar. He’s also been charged with making threats to Smith’s sons. There’s no word on how this falling out will affect the piano bar and Weldon’s forthcoming Jolly’s Crab House in South Philly. [Dan Gross]
