The folks behind Beauty & Essex, the hotly anticipated follow-up to Stanton Social, tell us that the restaurant will open for dinner on December 11, with brunch to follow next year. Apparently designers AvroKO have outfitted the former M. Katz & Sons furniture store with a pawn shop façade as well as four dining rooms, two bars, and a throwback ladies’ lounge (complete with sofa and Champagne service) near the bathroom. Are they going for the debutante crowd that flocks to Stanton Social? You betcha!
We’re told Chris Santos’s menu is still being finalized, but a version we’ve seen includes a raw bar, a selection of “jewels on toast” (bone marrow, whipped ricotta, etc.), $7 to $18 “accessories” (bánh-mì-style spring rolls, chicken-fried oysters, lobster tacos, Parmigiano-Reggiano fritters), $16 to $24 entrées such as buttermilk-fried chicken, veal short ribs, chicken meatballs, garganelli, and a selection of Creekstone Farms steaks as well as a Beauty & Essex burger served with duck-fat fries. We’ll have more for you once the menu and space come together.
