While you were sleeping off the tryptophan last Friday morning, Obika was opening a second location of its Italian mozzarella mecca. Founded in Rome by Silvio Ursini in 2004, Obika opened this past September at Westfield Century City, the first L.A. location for a restaurant that has spread to Japan, New York, Kuwait, and London, among other corners of the world. The new Obika opened at 8:00 A.M. last Friday on the sixth floor of Beverly Center, in a casual setting for its high-grade Italian ingredients and thrice-weekly imports of mozzarella. This new location offers a seasonal menu of panini featuring such takes as smoked wild salmon with burrata and speck affumicato dell’alto adige with grilled artichokes. The restaurant opened early to fill the bellies of those rabid black Friday shoppers, but will normally start serving at 10:00 A.M. daily. But for weary or uninspired holiday mall shoppers, the good news finds Obika stocked with a daily apertivo hour for bar snacks with wine or cocktails. Check out the full menu below.
