Paul Wildermuth passed away over the weekend due to a heart complication. He was currently working as the Executive Chef at the Briarwood Country Club, but is perhaps most famous for his pushing contemporary Asian cooking in the city, especially at Opera. Michael Nagrant actually included it in his list of the best restaurants of the last decade: “…when Paul Wildermuth was at the helm this was my favorite jewel in the Jerry Kleiner empire. While it never really reached the ideal of celebrating authentic regional Chinese food, it was one of the most successful and interesting upscale versions of Chinese food in the city.” He was 46.
