According to Jeremy W. Peters’s Twitter, Carol Smith — the vice president and publishing director for Condé’s “epicurean group” (Bon Appétit, what’s left of Gourmet) — is out. Her replacement will be William Wackermann. [Update: According to Condé, Wackermann’s going to be the “Executive Vice President, Publishing Director” of his old brands, plus Bon App and Gourmet. Paul Jowdy will be Smith’s immediate replacement as VP and Publisher.] How much does this have to do with Condé’s impending announcement of who will assume Barbara Fairchild’s position as Bon App’s editor-in-chief?
