Angelo Sosa’s rep now tells us that Xie Xie closed because the space was sold, and gives us the official statement: “Xie Xie's closing is an opportunity for Angelo and his team to expand the concept's offerings elsewhere in addition to other new and exciting projects.” He also says Angelo is single! Meanwhile, a couple of doors down, please note the opening of City Sandwich, the self-declared “ItaLisboNyorker” (chef Michael Guerrieri considers himself an Italian, Lisboan, and New Yorker) sandwich shop we told you about back in September. Midtown Lunch has already declared it “a worthy destination for folks who enjoy Portuguese flavors, and if anything, it’s a fine substitute for Xie Xie.” Here’s a look at the menu.
