Is it any wonder Keanu’s sad? His attempt at a quiet meal out with friends at the Old Homestead Steakhouse this week was interrupted twice by overeager fans — his party was eventually forced to move upstairs to the restaurant’s second-floor space to get away from it all. Then poor Mariah Carey was forced to walk a full flight of (two) stairs in heels while leaving hubby Nick Cannon’s East Coast birthday party at Lavo. It’s sohard to be a celebrity diner in the city, but here’s who else we spotted braving it this week.

Abe & Arthur’s: Michael Phelps challenged LPGA star Cristie Kerr to a round of golf at Abe & Arthur’s first birthday bash last Friday. [Page Six/NYP]
Atlantic Grill: MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough took his family out for dinner at the UWS restaurant. [Gawker Stalker]
Baluchi’s: A pair of enterprising matchmakers set Hoda Kotb up with their father after approaching her with a pitch at a book signing, then dined with the two to limit any first-“date” awkwardness. [Page Six/NYP]
Ben Benson’s Steak House: Carl Paladino surely talked “strategy” over dinner with John Haggerty, one of his campaign workers. No word on whether they hugged. [Gawker Stalker]
Jamba Juice: No photo op goes unturned for the Kardashian sisters, who worked smooth moves over smoothies. [Zimbio]
Kenmare: A glamorous blonde caught A-Rod’s attention while he joined a group of friends for a drink at Kenmare — notably, said blonde was not Cameron Diaz. [Page Six/NYP]
Lavo: Despite the rumors that she might well be eating for two, Mariah Carey stayed away from the food at husband Nick Cannon’s birthday party. At least until she left, when she ordered cheese ravioli to go. [NYDN]
Old Homestead Steakhouse: Excessive fan attention forced Keanu Reeves and his party to move tables twice at the Old Homestead, as models and groupies badgered him for photos and autographs. [NYDN]
Osteria Morini: Gawker’s Nick Denton dined with Ari Melber at Michael White’s new dining venue. [Grub Street]
Serendipity 3: John Travolta and a friend indulged their inner child and shared a “Coward’s Portion” banana split between them. [Page Six/NYP]
The Lion: Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts celebrated their birthdays together with a party at the Lion that ran until 3 a.m. [NYDN]
