Through a tweet here and a Facebook status update there, Barbuzzo’s salted caramel budino has been gradually building a cult following amongst Philly’s sweet-tooth-erati since owners Marcie Turney and Valerie Safran first opened the restaurant back in September. Now one of its devotees, Tasting Table editor Joy Manning, has cracked the code on how to make the indulgent dessert in all its salty, sweet and gooey glory. For the uninitiated, Barbuzzo’s budino layers chocolate cookie crust, a rich butterscotch pudding, salted caramel and whipped cream in a mason jar. Tasting Table puts forth a fairly faithful recipe that’s pretty straightforward and easy to follow. The only component missing is the chocolate cookie crust.
