Yesterday Floyd Cardoz told Feast, “I don’t know if there are any 300-seat restaurants anymore.” Now Sirio Maccioni tells the Post, “If we find the right location, we could move Le Cirque there.” The current restaurant is doing “all right, not great” because it’s “too big,” and Maccioni wants “some thing [sic] like 60 to 80 seats like the original.” Back in July, we reported that the Maccionis have been scouting locations from the Upper West Side to Tribeca, but Mauro told us it was for a new seafood concept. As for Le Cirque, he said, “After a third move, I don’t know. I wish it were smaller or that we had stayed on 65th Street. We are still doing okay, but we are not Nobu or Babbo.”
