Thursday Friday marks the 4th annual SF WhiskyFest at the downtown Marriott, and booze hounds the Bay over will be clamoring for tastes of 260 different whiskies — but will hopefully stop at a dozen or learn to spit because, well, for god’s sake, it’s whiskey. SFoodie provides a handy guide to the various types of whisky, and goes further to explain why it’s sometimes spelled with an “e,” and sometimes not: “The Scots, Canadians, and Japanese prefer to spell it whisky, while the Irish and Americans like to add an ‘e’ and spell it whiskey.” Though WhiskyFest is American, they’re apparently deferring to the Scots on this one. Get tickets, which will run you $100, here.
