Chris Cosentino Thinks He Caught the Michelin Inspector

The “famously anonymous” local Michelin inspector was at Incanto last night, and in yet another example of how real-time Twittering might not be the best choice for a critic trying to remain anonymous, the dude announced his whereabouts only to see Twitter-happy chef Chris Cosentino (@offalchris) looking right at him from the kitchen, iPhone in hand. “Thought the ‘old man’ blew my cover; Not so!” tweeted Mr. Michelin. “I think we caught him,” Cosentino tells Grub Street. “I wish I could say for sure, but it’s not like he stood up and said anything. And it’s not like it matters to me anyway. Michelin is never going to give me a star, and that’s not really what I want the restaurant to be.” Nevertheless, when Cosentino saw the announcement that he had Michelin in his midst last night, he tweeted, “it still drives me nervous.” The 2011 Bay Area Michelin Guide arrives next week.
