Cafe 50’s Expands To East Hollywood

That non-stop sock-hop known as Cafe 50’s recently expanded to a fourth location, opening on Vermont a few blocks below Santa Monica Blvd. Holding down the same kind of corner as Venice’s location, which looks a little more frayed at the edges than West L.A.’s, this new Silver Lake-adjacent outpost gleams in red, white, and neon, making you feel like you’ve just exited a Delorean and gone back to that decade Tea Bagging America still longs for. A Fifties-style franchise, the diner serves classic comfort favorites with big breakfasts, burgers, milkshakes, pie, and blue plate specials with fried chicken and country-fried steak, along with daily discounts (pajama night is a big one) and holiday items. And as always, everything comes with boppin’, twistin’, tooty-fruity tunes and a huge side of nostalgia for possibly less dangerous, though still just as paranoid times. Open 7:00 A.M. to midnight, and until 1:00 A.M. on weekends.
