Here in San Francisco we’re blessed with relatively spacious restaurants and a usually calm, non-sheep-like eating public — Ike’s Place notwithstanding. So, it might take some getting used to, all this waiting to grab one of the 32 seats at the newly opened Una Pizza Napoletana (210 11th Street), which is decidedly more of a New York experience. Eater reports that in addition to the priest they had blessing the oven on Wednesday night, there was a Manhattan-sized line waiting before the doors opened, including a couple of Una Pizza loyalists who’d flown out from New York for the opening. Today, Lynne Bennett reports back to the Scoop in a non-review which nonetheless describes and compliments Mangieri’s pies, and recommends, “Unless you arrive well before 5 p.m. or after 9 p.m., bring along an extremely conversational friend or plenty of reading material. And wear comfortable shoes.”
