Rhode Island Gets In on the Funeral Home Food Action

McBride’s, an Irish pub and grill, will soon open in a Providence funeral home, reports MyFox. You read that right: the owners of Monahan Funeral Home have a liquor license and will be opening McBride’s in their garage. Because who doesn’t like chowing down mere feet away from dead bodies? Also, what mourner doesn’t want to honor their lost loved one while people booze away on the other side of the wall?

Eagle-eyed readers might have noticed that this is the second funereal food news item this year: in March, Pittsfield’s Devanny-Condron Funeral Home threw a chili cook-off. As any journalist can tell you, it takes three to make a trend, so let’s stop before it gets that far, okay?
