New Micro-’Hood in the ’Loin Defined by Three Taquerias?

And what about the other two Taqueria El Castillitos, one on Church St. and one on Mission?

In a new series called “MiniTender”, the often amusing Tenderblog has decided to start christening new mini-neighborhoods in that vast and ill-defined region called the Tenderloin. The first in the series: The Castle Triangle, the three points of which are defined by three similarly named taquerias, variations on the Spanish word for “castle,” all of which are in the same two-block area and none of which appear to be related — Taqueria Castillo B (86 McAllister), El Castillito Taqueria (250 Golden Gate), and Taqueria El Castillito (370 Golden Gate). Quite confusing for the newly arrived Tenderloin dweller, no? As our tour guides admit, “The end result is something out of the Twilight Zone as you can walk in to one joint that says Castillito on the front and think, ‘Hmm, not quite how I remember, but still divey enough that it’s probably the spot.’”
