Neldam’s Bakery Reborn as Taste of Denmark

As noted earlier, some former employees of the recently shuttered, 81-year-old Neldam’s Bakery in Oakland banded together and decided to reopen under a new name. Taste of Denmark (3401 Telegraph Avenue) opened last week as a worker-owned co-op, offering all the same pastries that Neldam’s had, with some new Asian and Latino-friendly options on the way as well. Building owner and investor Sukhee Yoo says, “Before, it was a very Danish style bakery but now we realize that we need to cater to the Asian-American community, the black community, and Hispanics.”
