Surely the Khyber’s ill-received plan to convert from a once great indie rock temple to an iazakaya - let’s call it Kyzakya for now - deserves further consideration now that former Ro-Zu chef Todd Dae Kulper has been recruited to run the kitchen, as the Insider reports. It seems like Kulper gained the enthusiastic endorsement of everyone who ate at Ro-Zu before his abrupt departure back in May. Phillymag critic Trey Popp (while still writing for the Citypaper) famously lamented the chef’s absence when he reviewed the restaurant. Perhaps Kulper’s involvement in the project can counter the torrents of pessimism directed at it since it was announced. [Insider]
