A Taste of Persia

Last night, Food & Wine kicked off the first night of its weekend-long “Taste of Beverly Hills” event with a “9.02.10 Celebration.” Among the 40-plus restaurants was a true local’s crowd of Beverly Hills residents, as well as fervent food-obsessives and a few celebrities. Excellent, eclectic tastes stretched through the venue, from Kimmy Tang’s pho to a tented Persian feast to daring nibbles from The Thompson and Joachim Splichal, and the inclusion of numerous wineries and spirit-makers like handmade vodka from a guy named Tito and Tiki cocktails from Trader Vic’s. The only moment leaving a bad taste in attendees’ mouths? The adulation of the Kardashian Family on the red carpet and on stage as they received a key to the city from the mayor. Fortunately, Natasha Bedingfield ended this first night with a high-energy set, making a lovely nightcap for the hundreds of swollen bellies. Overall, a nicely organized event full of eats and drinks. Taste of Beverly Hills continues with events throughout the weekend, check out this slide show of our favorite dishes and chef sightings from last night.
