BREAKING: Ike’s Is Reborn in the Castro, at Lime

Hold the phone, ladies and gents… literally: After closing on the 13th, Ike’s Place reopens, by surprise, today! But they’re only taking phone orders (415-553-6888), as they’ll be operating out of the kitchen at Lime (2247 Market Street), daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. “We’re really excited,” owner Ike Shehadeh tells Grub Street, “and while we get used to sharing space, we’ve got to control the crowd by taking phone orders only. But people are used to phoning in anyway.” Ike’s will be the ersatz lunch service at Lime, but if you show up without calling ahead, you’ll be turned away to go call in your order and shop the ‘hood for a while. Things could get a bit complicated in the evening hours, when Lime starts their happy hour and customers decide they want to order sandwiches, but Lime will be continuing to serve both their dinner and popular brunch menus, and this will likely transform the early evening scene at the Castro lounge. Sandwich addicts: You may now exhale. [Grub Street, Earlier]
Update: The Bay Citizen clarifies that Ike’s will be closed on Sundays, during Lime’s popular brunch. But Lime’s Saturday brunch is equally popular…
