Once renovations are complete, Amada, the veritable launch pad for the skyrocketing success of Jose Garces, will reopen Friday just in time for its fifth anniversary and will begin serving a new tasting menu that serves almost as a greatest hits of the restaurant’s five year run. Five Years La Mesa de Jose Tasting Menu revistis some of the restaurant’s classic dishes, selections from the Garces-penned cookbook, Latin Evolution, and dishes he’s used to triumph over his adversaries on Iron Chef America, and will be available throughout all of October for $65. Highlights include Amada’s Empanada, the spinach and Manchego cheese-stuffed plantain pastry that’s been a mainstay on the restaurant’s menu since opening, and Pulpo Gallego, Spanish octopus with smoked paprika.
