According to his blog, Xiao Ye chef-owner Eddie Huang thought it was “really fair” when Gael Greene slammed his restaurant’s fried chicken in her review this week (she called it “like wood shavings on chunks of white meat”). Starting today, Huang replaces the shavings with something more cheetah-licious. “Chicken is fixed :) come back soon,” he tweeted to Greene last night, and then: “Cheeto fried chicken available all week starting tomorrow.”

Huang’s Cheeto chicken is part of a larger plan to feature “ABC Diner food (American-born Chinese)” through autumn, a twisted-comfort-food list that also includes a grilled-cheese sandwich with mozzarella and gochujang, a fried-tofu-and-honey-ham-hock toasted mantou sandwich, and Scotch Bonnet Sloppy Joes. The chopped broccoli and Cheddar with peppercorn oil sticks to theme, too — reminiscent, at least on paper, of the broccoli dish Craig Koketsu serves at Park Avenue Café, also shamelessly Cheetos-coated.
