Northern Spy Launches Happy Hour; the Gate Hosts a Pie Bake-Off

East Village: Northern Spy Food Co. launches a daily happy hour this weekend from 4 until 7 p.m. Beer, wine, and cocktails are $2 off; bottles of wine are $5 off. There will also be an $8-and-under menu of small plates and new specialty cocktails like a Wheat Beer Shandy and a Cucumber and Mint Wine Cooler. [Grub Street]


Midtown: Kosher pizza joint Aroma has closed at 35 W. 46th Street, while Kolette’s Kitchen plans to open at 672 Lexington Avenue, peddling kosher takes on both Middle Eastern and Vietnamese fare. [Grub Street]
