Poor North End residents: though their neighborhood is full of outstanding Italian delicacies, there’s nowhere to stock up on more quotidian needs like flour and non-Italian spices. All that could soon change, however. The state’s Department of Transportation recently selected Trinity Financial to build a supermarket on the Greenway at Canal Street, reports the Herald.
If approved, construction could begin on a Stop & Shop next summer. The last North/West End supermarket, another Stop & Shop that occupied the current Whole Foods site on Cambridge Street, closed in 2002. Looks like the neighborhood could have a nice round ten year wait.
