Miel, whose name is French for honey, recently installed a rooftop apiary, reports Fork Lift. The hives house 40,000 bees and are kept by sous chef Cyrielle Couet. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first apiary at a Boston restaurant, but given the lightening fast spread of locavorism in this city (and America’s growing obsession with urban beekeeping), it’s not hard to imagine a day where rooftop hives are as de rigueur as backyard gardens.
