L.A. Creamery Planned in Canoga Park and Glendale

Approaching on the heels of Sweet Rose Creamery at Brentwood Country Mart comes L.A. Creamery, an artisan ice cream shop due for Westfield Topanga in November. Jessica Goryl, a former BLT Steak and Cafe del Rey pastry chef, will rotate twelve flavors made from scratch using organic dairy from Straus Family Creamery. A press release says it’s the only place to source from there, clearly ignoring our story on Organic Oasis a few weeks back and hurting our feelings forever (Update: the release is actually correct in saying L.A.C. is the only “ice cream parlor” to source from Straus, thus un-hurting our feelings). Anyway, what can you expect from Goryl?

The modern space is being put together by The Edison’s Kelly Architects, with Goryl and former Mozza manager Sharon Aronson striving to define “the image of a 21st-century ice cream parlor.” Expect Four Barrel coffee, familiar and new-fangled ice cream flavors like roasted banana & peanut butter crunch, plus blackberry-ginger scones and a few “adult-only options.” That better mean the milk chocolate Guinness and not a new flavor from Michael Kevin Lallana.

A second location is already planned for Americana at Brand in spring 2011. Track the progress on Twitter, Facebook, and a website.
