It appears Sam Nazarian isn’t the only developer in town who thinks he can produce a great restaurant. Feast reports the opening today of Deluca’s Deli, a new eatery from Trattoria Amici owner Tancredi Deluca. Deluca’s partner here is Rick Caruso, that master of lifestyle mall-villes like Waterside, The Grove, and Americana at Brand, where Deluca is situated.
Here Caruso’s signature planning is resulting in a breezy, “contemporary” Italian deli with over 40 cheeses, locally-raised, seasonal salads, pre-made pasta dishes from neighboring Amici, porchetta and cold cut sandwiches, and plates of ranch-raised sausage and Gioia mozzarella with San Marzano tomatoes. Amici chef Piero Topputo is in the kitchen, promising curios like duck prosciutto and salame piccante. With regular food truck hootnannies and the first placement of Deluca within its borders, Caruso seems to have set Americana up as the foodiest of his developments, at least until Nancy Silverton saturates The Grove’s parking lot with her Short Order burgers.
Deluca Deli, now open at 889 Americana Way Glendale.
