Viva Espana

Where Were You When Spain Won?

Just how insane was the scene at La Nacional yesterday? The crowd was already spilling onto the street when blogger Atsilac dropped in at 1 p.m., and the Daily News reports that after the win, one man stripped down to his red underwear. Not surprisingly, Newark’s Ironbound district (home to restaurants such as Iberia, Spain, and Forno’s) was also mobbed, according to the Star-Ledger. Gothamist has photos from Astoria’s Casa Galicia, Nevada Smith’s, and other Spanish strongholds. As for the city’s Dutch restaurants — wait a minute, with Danku closed, we don’t have many of those, do we?
