After spending last summer at various roadside locations in Belmont, Silk Road BBQ has opened on the Rose Kennedy Greenway, right in front of Rowes Wharf. This opening is part of a pilot program to bring distinctive and affordable food to the Greenway. Silk Road BBQ focuses on charcoal-grilled skewered meat, which they call by the Russian word shashleek. These are cooked over a long, narrow trough of charcoal, an unusual sight here, but a more common occurance in Central Asia. Full meals, which include a skewer of meat, salad, and pilaf, come in between $10 and $12.50.
