Valencia Corridor Update: Grub Delayed Until Late August, B-Cubed to Feature Bare Tables

Grub Street got the word today from co-owner Yusama Freij that the long delayed Grub (758 Valencia) had some electrical issues and an inspection by PG&E; set them back a few extra weeks. They’re now aiming for a late August opening, and though he won’t reveal the chef’s name yet, he says he is a former Cordon Bleu instructor who’ll be doing an American regional menu (we told you it’s a trend) divided into fish, meat, and veggie sections, as well as the aforementioned burger and macaroni and cheese bars.

As for B3 (1152 Valencia), they’re still on track to open next week, August 4, also with a burger-focused menu but with an emphasis on small production wines by the glass or bottle. “We decided to leave the tables totally bare,” says partner Johnny Gato. “Maybe just water glasses. We’re looking at this primarily as a tasting facility, and if you want to order food you can.”

As previously noted, The Summit (780 Valencia) is just a couple weeks away, though no firm date has been set.

And Blue Fig (990 Valencia), a café with a foreign owner (that’s all we know) is shaping up and looks only a few weeks away, but you never know.
