Noah Tepperberg and Jason Strauss of Marquee and Avenue are gearing up to bring their Vegas cash cow, Lavo, to the former Au Bar space at 41 East 58th Street a Craigslist ad indicates the Italian restaurant and nightclub will open summer 2010. Meanwhile, in Soho, neighbors are protesting a new one from the owner of Miami Beach's Santo (said to have been named one of the top ten Sexiest Places in North America by Playboy magazine). Heres the flyer weve noticed posted around the neighborhood.
The Friends of Hudson Square, Inc., 512 Greenwich St., 1st Floor, NYC, NY 10013
NEW NIGHT CLUB PLANNED FOR: 315 Spring St.
North East Corner of Greenwich and Spring currently a furniture store
The owner of a very loud and popular Miami Beach Night Club named SANTO wants to open a large night club with DJ and live music.
The friends of Hudson Square met with the owner. He stated that the new Club would be the same as SANTO.
We believe that the neighborhood does not needs such a large late night venue.
Community Board #2 will hold a public hearing on their Liquor License Application.
We ask everyone who can attend:

Apparently the denizens of Spring Street, already facing a new club from Paul Sevigny and Nur Khan, are refusing to be seduced by (in the words of Santos website) the essence of the luxurious, seductive Miami lifestyle.
