The twittersphere was, well, atwitter yesterday following Philebrity’s announcement that Old City stalwart the Khyber would no longer be hosting live music after July 31. As word spread quickly, it stoked rumors stretching back to January that the erstwhile indie rock mecca was up for sale, and/or closing was imminent. That yarn gained some traction recently when it was suggested that Eulogy’s owners were in negotiations to take over the bar, which never happened and that deal - depending on whom you talk to - either fell apart or never really existed. Alas, Khyber owner Stephen Simons says there’s no plan to sell or close the bar, and live music is going on hiatus until he finds a new booking agent, the Insider reports. [Insider]
